A French fine quality mid 19th century bronze vase/urn by Eugene Cornu of Paris with good original patination - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

This vase is of oval form and consists of a moulded edge with ball bead decoration leading down to a superb design of putti amongst grapes and vines, one putti with goat legs.

The two handles, one at either side, are designed in the form of serpents and lead round to a moulded edge, supported by a superbly fluted base with laurel leaf decoration, all supported by a moulded and shaped plinth.

Eugene Cornu was a sculptor working in the 19th century who set up the 'Marble & onyx company of Algeria', they  specialised in luxury items made from onyx, bronze and enamel, many made in his foundry in Paris.     

This vase is in very good condition, it is a very decorative and versatile piece and would be ideal used as a vase, an urn, a centrepiece for a table, a superb wine cooler (for champagne) or even a fruit bowl.
