This dressing table is of superb quality and has been made in the 18th century style in the manner of Thomas Affleck of Philadelphia (1740-1795) who was an 18th century cabinet maker who specialised in furniture typically of the Philadelphia Chippendale style.

The dressing table consists of a fine quality mahogany top with a superbly carved moulded edge.

This leads down to the drawers which consist of one long drawer over three short, all cockbeaded and fitted with fine quality Rococo style gilt handles.

The central bottom drawer has been superbly carved with typical Chippendale designs of a ho ho bird amongst scrolling foliage.

At each corner there are rounded pillars with carved C scrolls leading down to a shaped & finely carved bottom rail which is carried round to the sides.

The piece stands on four finely carved cabriole legs which terminate with very bold ball & claw feet.

Pieces of this quality are seldom seen on the open market as most are found either in private collections and/or museums, similar design 18th century dressing tables can realise prices in the tens of thousands of pounds, if not millions.

Provenance: From a private collection, England, UK.

This dressing table is in superb condition with evidence of old repairs, executed very well.
