An original, complete set of four volumes ' A History of English Furniture' by Percy Macquoid R.I. with colour plates after Shirley Slocombe and various illustrations (1904-1908), sourced from a private collection.

This set comprises of the following:

The Age of Oak (1904)

The Age of Walnut (1905)

The Age of Mahogany (1906)

The Age of Satinwood (1908)

This set of books is in very good original condition and are finished in half brown calf leather to the spine & corners with marbled boards with gold embossed titling to the spines.

These books were printed by T & A Constable, Edinburgh who became the Royal families printer & publisher in 1921.

The publisher of this set is Lawrence & Bullen Ltd for 'The Age of Oak' and r the further three volumes, both Lawrence & Bullen Ltd and G P Putman's Sons in USA.

Percy Macquoid had a career as a theatrical designer and then over a period of years became a collector and connoisseur of English furniture.

This set of books that he wrote became a good source of reference to cabinet makers and antique dealers over the years and still continues to be used today.

These books would be a super addition to a collection or library.
