An early 18thc George I walnut chest of drawers of with superb patina (colour) and in excellent condition. The chest has good original colour with a milky appearance.

The top and drawers of the piece are veneered in walnut with a herringbone cross banding.

There are three short drawers over three longer graduated drawers. The carcass has a moulding to give the illusion of a cock bead when the drawers are closed.

The brass handles are not original but this style of handle is not uncommon for a piece of furniture from this period.

The ends are pine with mirrored walnut veneers. All the mouldings on this chest are of cross-grained walnut which again is a feature typical of a piece from this period.

This chest of drawers most likely started it's life as the top section of a chest on chest. It was not uncommon to find this as it made the item both a more practical & desirable piece of furniture. If this was the case, originally the top would not have been veneered and it would be missing the feet, so at some point, maybe 100 years ago, the top would have been veneered and the bracket feet added.

As always with our furniture, this piece is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
