The giltwood frame has carved foliage designs leading down to upholstered scroll-end arm rests, the shaped arm supports are carved with acanthus decoration.

These lead down to a recessed panel with flower design patera, the front and side rails have a carved diamond design.

The legs are fluted with a stylised flower design within.

The fabric is a Colefax & Fowler fabric with a dark cream background with deep red flower & foliage design, the back is upholstered in a brown & cream check fabric.

Due to the provenance of this piece, the upholstery has not been changed, it is a Colefax & Fowler fabric but could of course be re-upholstered in a fabric of your choice once purchased.

This chair was from the private collection of the respected antiques dealer in Fulham Road, Stephen Long.

He had an open & honest opinion to interior design & loved glamour & style as well as being well-known for the 'shabby chic' look - this is very much portrayed with this chair.

He was great friends with the designer John Fowler from childhood & this friendship continued for years.

This chair is in good original condition  and is of stable construction.
