A superb rare set of six highly decorative early 19thc padouk Anglo Indian chairs, possibly from the Goa or Bombay districts of India. ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This decorative set consists of three armchairs & three single chairs.
The backs comprise of profusely carved foliage & scroll designs, carved on both sides.
The armchairs have scroll arms, again profusely carved leading down to shaped acanthus carved arm supports.
The seat rails have geometric & foliage carving on all four sides and the drop-in seats have been recovered in a mink colour fabric but can be easily re-upholstered, once purchased, in a colour of your choice.
The legs are of cabriole design at the front with acanthus carving, terminating with a paw foot.
The back legs are of a swept design with foliage carving at the base & all four legs are supported on brass castors.
These chairs have been restored due to some loose joints but are now of stable construction & can go straight inot a property.
