A large pair of decorative Chinese superbly carved torcheres/plant stands made of a type of rosewood, possibly from Southern China.
At the top is a detachable, square plant holder with a carved edge.
These are supported by four 'bat' type mythical creatures with a leaf decoration.
These lead down to a turned, round support with a ball bead decoration.
This leads down to a profusely carved column of bamboo and foliage entwined with superbly carved dragons.
This leads down to a hexagonal base with bamboo decoration & supported by three temple dog creatures holding ball supports.
These are in superb condition: some small repairs have been made on the tails of the 'bat' creatures as these were missing so these have been replaced, carved & repolished.
These were bought from a private collection originally bought in China & brought back to the UK years ago - they came from the same collection as the Dragon chair, as seen in my 'Sold' archive.
