A late 19th century decorative pair of French painted open armchairs with both original paint finish & tapestry work. These are a unique pair of chairs, coming from a large private house in Norfolk - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
The oval backs comprise of carved wooden & painted frames with original tapestry work depicting roses & foliage.
The arms have upholstered armrests, the arms being supported by carved acanthus & reeded shaped supports leading down to the seat, also upholstered in the original tapestry work depicting roses & foliage.
The front seat rail is carved & is of serpentine shape and on each corner of the rail is a square carved flower decoration supported by four turned, fluted & stop-fluted tapering legs on a turned foot.
All woodwork is finished with original paintwork in pale green tones.
These chairs are in good, original condition and of sound construction, we have not changed the original upholstery but this could easily be done once purchased by an upholsterer.
