A pair of late 19th century French superb quality carved walnut & parcel-gilt chairs in the Louis XVI style - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
The chairs consist of an arched top rail with a superbly carved central cresting with scrolling, rose & foliage and ribbon designs.
Underneath this is both a gadrooned & dart style carving and at either end a carved ball finial with a carved recessed design below leading down to reeded balusters.
These lead down to the sprung seats which have a carved & moulded shaped front rail with moulded side rails.
The top of the front legs have a recessed carved decoration leading down to turned, graduated, fluted & stop-fluted legs.
This pair of chairs are of exceptional quality and are finished in a traditional striped cream, green and gold fabric.
Although this has not been replaced by us it is in very good condition but could be changed by the purchaser.
There are traces of old woodworm (not uncommon for walnut) but the chairs are structurally sound and comfortable and are ready to go straight into a property.
