Late 19thc solid satinwood armchair
A late 19thc/early 20thc stunning solid satinwood upholstered armchair, possibly from Sweden.
The solid satinwood shaped back rail has ormolu pateras at the top. The side supports, again solid satinwood, lead down to satinwood arms with identical design pateras on the ends.
The arm supports are carved gilt wood with a flower & foliage design.
The seat back and also the shaped drop in seat are both upholstered in a very good quality Chinoiserie design silk fabric of rich green and gold colours.
The seat is supported by a solid satinwood seat rail decorated with gilt metal designs.
The front legs are of a scroll design with pateras & ormolu decoration of excellent quality on the knee, leading to a gilt metal lion paw foot. The back legs are of a splayed moulded design.
This piece is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
