Late 17th century pine eagle lecturn
A late 17th century Continental pine or possibly limewood carved & polychromed eagle in the form of a lecturn.
The eagle is resting with his wings spread in the Roman style seated on a Baroque carved and scrolling stand.
The eagle has remnants of the original polychrome paint in red, yellow and gilt.
On the back of the wings there are old supports and here there is eveidence of old fixings from the original lecturn.
This item is a connoisseur piece and would grace any good collection.
This piece is in very good condition for age.
