A large 19th century Continental decorative carved pine bearded satyr figure profusely carved with vine leaves and grapes.
The satyr was part of a troop of companions of the God of grape & harvest, Bacchus.
The satyr typically had a large beard with wreaths of vines on his head and was half man and half goat.
This figure is in good, original condition apart from a small loss of carved horn on his right side - this can be repaired if required at a small additional cost.
