An extremely rare French mid 18th century oak buffet of small proportions and of fine patina (colour). ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This piece consists of a solid oak top with a moulded edge which leads down to two finely carved arcaded & fielded panelled doors with steel hinges.
These doors, of typical French design, have finely carved foliage decoration and an original lock with further carved panels underneath each door. Inside the buffet there is one shelf, ideal for storage use.
The bottom rail is shaped, carved and moulded and the piece stands on sophisticated cabriole front legs, carved on the knee, terminating with a ball and claw foot.
The rounded corners are also carved with the side panels again of arcade and fielded design.
The back has a panelled oak construction with shaped and carved scroll back legs.
This piece is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
