A fine quality late 18th/early 19th century fruitwood carving of a giant slayer - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This fine quality carving consists of a giant slayer dressed in Medieval/Bavarian traditional clothing and is holding his over sized sword above his head.
He is proudly sitting aloft the superbly carved large giants head that he has slayed lading down to an ebonised plinth.
This carving is an interpretation of a fable about a giant slayer.
The carving has a signature to the side 'STARY' although after researching this I have not come across any further information.
This carving is in excellent condition and has a superb patina.
