This piece consists of three turned wooden and gilt finials on a double dome and dome end bureau bookcase.
The doors, of architectural form, are decorated both on the exterior and interior with various lacquered decoration depicting traditional Chinese scenes.
The bookcase consists of three shelves, nine pigeon holes above four lacquered drawers and also two candle stands (for decorative purposes only as there are no mirrors on the doors).
This leads down to the highly decorative bureau section, the interior being superbly fitted with various compartments consisting of six drawers, a central door painted with a seated Mandarin man with two secret bookend sections.
The fall is decorated with a finely lacquered design of cranes amongst foliage and bamboo.
The lower section has five graduated drawers, all pine lined and with lacquered Chinoiserie decoration with brass Chinese influenced handles and terminating with four bracket feet.
The ends are also decorated with good quality Chinoiserie gilt decoration including dragon designs.
