An early 20thc carved Chinese hardwood low bench inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
This piece consists of a carved top rail (carved front & back) depicting fire breathing dragons. The dragon is a symbol of power & good fortune in Chinese mythology.
Below this is a hardwood panel, inlaid profusely with mother-of-pearl to create a village scene.
The arms are carved with dragons & also inlaid with mother-of-pearl flower decoration.
Each arm is supported by a carved dragon.
The bench has a dish seat & the front rail is inlaid with mother-of-pearl flower designs.
The seat rails are profusely carved with various designs & inlaid with mother-of-pearl.
The legs are inlaid with mother-of-pearl decoration & they terminate with a carved scroll foot.
