An early 19thc Anglo Indian hardwood jardiniere stand, possibly from the Galle district.
This piece has deep carving at the top to represent a lattice basket of fruit.
The lattice basket contains various exotic fruits, foliage & flowers & has a metal liner (which has a dark green painted finish) to hold either plants or flowers or also could be used as a wine cooler - see photographs one & three.
The top leads down to a turned & reeded column with an acanthus section. This is supported by a four-splay base with ball bead turning with four hairy paw feet.
