A fine example of a late 19thc French walnut open armchair smothered with various finely carved Greek & Roman influenced designs. ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
Please note: identical chair Ref:LVS230 shown in Chairs section - could be sold as a pair and re-upholstered in new fabric - (the blue chair is without the stretcher).
The back frame is finely carved with guilloche decoration & this design also leads down to the arms terminating with acanthus carving.
The arm supports have scroll & acanthus carved decoration.
The seat rail has a carved laurel leaf decoration with a carved square and central flower at the top of each leg.
The legs are turned & have carved acanthus decoration with twisted fluting terminating in a ball turned foot.
The chair has been recovered in an pale blue silk damask which complements the frame. Although I think this chair has been quite recently re-upholstered, there are a couple of small marks to the fabric.
This chair was probably originally gilded.
This piece is structurally sound & ready to go straight into a property.
