A late 17th century oak moulded front (or joined) chest of drawers of superb patina (colour) - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This chest of drawers consists of a three plank top with moulded edge leading down to four sophisticated drawers having geometric designs, this being a popular design at the time.
The drawers are a mixture of both shallow and deep drawers which was a common design in the 17th century (this led onto the graduated designs of the 18th century) each of the drawers having its own individual applied geometric moulded design to the front.
The metalwork, ie. handles and escutcheon plates are designs in keeping with the piece but have been replaced at some point over the years.
The sides and back are panelled with a moulding to the base leading down to four extended stile supports.
This chest of drawers is in very good condition for age, it is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
