A 20th century mahogany metamorphic library chair, in the Regency style - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
The chair consists of a solid mahogany shaped top rail leading down to reeded and scrolled arms, in the typical Regency style.
The central splat is carved with a gadrooned decoration with a circular patera to the centre with scrolling foliage either side.
The chair has a cane seat with a reeded front rail, leading down to reeded sabre front legs.
The chair has four steps, all covered with green tooled leather supported by a border of flame, cross-grained mahogany.
This chair is based on 'The Metamorphic Library Chair' which combined a chair with a pair of steps, designed by Morgan & Saunders - this was patented in 1811 and was a very popular model.
This chair is in very good condition and is structurally sound and is ready to go straight into a home or library.
