An extremely large still life oil painting on canvas of a large vase of flowers with various jugs & ornaments, mounted in a decorative gilt wood frame.
This painting is by John Ernest Foster (1877 - 1965) and he exhibited at RA, RI & elsewhere.
John Foster was originally from Hull & then later lived in Dedham, Suffolk.
After speaking with an acquaintance of the artist I understand that it appears this painting was completed in his own home in Dedham.
He also told me that this is probably the largest painting that Foster ever painted.
There was a large painting of bluebells in St Mary's Church at Dedham but unfortunately this was stolen a few years ago. I believe there may be a copy of this there now.
There is also a John Constable in St Mary's.
