A rare superb quality mid 19th century highly decorative Continental floral marquetry teak chest, possibly Dutch - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:
This chest consists of a solid teak top with fine floral marquetry design with inlaid ribbon and other decoration with original steel rivets, the top opening to reveal storage space with a shelf.
This leads down to the front, also consisting of fine floral marquetry designs with decorative marquetry design surrounding the escutcheon and superbly decorative marquetry corner brackets to all four corners giving the appearance of metal wear.
This leads down to a concealed pine lined drawer also with marquetry decoration with working lock and key with inlaid moulding below to the front and sides, the sides consisting of floral marquetry decoration with brass carrying handles all supported by four original bun feet.
This chest is in excellent condition for age, is of stable construction and can go straight into a home – this is a rare and exceptional model of its' type.
