A superb set of six late 19th century (circa 1900) ash, elm and beech Gothic style Windsor chairs of good patina (colour) - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

This set of chairs based on an 18th century design consist of four singles and two armchairs, all with typical Gothic style arched back, the bow constructed of two parts which creates the Gothic arch from which this style of Windsor is named, the backs all with fine tracery fretted splats leading down to inswept arm supports (on the armchairs).

The shaped seats leading down to cabriole legs to the front with pierced knee brackets to the top leading down to pad feet with turned legs to the back, all joined with a crinoline stretcher.

The Gothic Windsor, the quintessential English chair, always considered to be ‘the pinnacle of Windsor chair design’ and more sought after than any other style of Windsor, a style often found in taverns and universities and typically made in the Thames Valley region of England.

These chairs are in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home.
