A superb quality early 19th century (circa 1820) set of four rosewood chairs of Indian influence - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

Although this set of chairs appear to be English, due to the construction, they definitely have an Indian influence particularly due to the style of carving.

This set of chairs consist of highly decorative backs having a shaped and carved top rail of foliate design, this leading down to shaped and moulded uprights of foliate design, unusual central crossover with carved anthemion and scrolling central support below.

The upholstered seats are removable and presently finished in a green fabric, all in good condition, the fabric could easily be changed if necessary once purchased.

This leads down to moulded front and side rails with sophisticated turned and carved tapered front legs with foliate corners to the top with further foliate decoration below and outswept legs to the back.

This set of chairs are in very good condition for age with evidence of some old repairs, they are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
