Code: LVS897

SOLD

A pair of mid-late 19th century French fauteuils (open armchairs) of large proportion with original needlework - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

This pair of chairs consist of stained beech frames, the backs being elaborately carved and shaped with central carved decoration to the top with shaped scratch outer moulding and carved decoration.

Within the frames the original needlework is retained depicting Chinoiserie scenes, the back supports carved with acanthus decoration.

This leads down to the carved and shaped arms and shaped and moulded arm supports also carved with acanthus decoration.

The serpentine shaped seats also retain the original needlework with bird and floral designs, the front rail also of serpentine shape with a carved foliate decoration to the centre, the legs of cabriole form terminating with scroll foot.

This pair of chairs are in very good condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home: the original needlework has been left on the chairs and there is some evidence of wear (which can be seen on the photographs) but the wear is stable.

These chairs could be re-upholstered if required once purchased.
