A pair of fine quality late 19th/early 20th century mahogany Chippendale style open armchairs of good proportion, stamped T WILLSON, 68, QUEEN STREET, LONDON    -   ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

These chairs consist of a shaped top rail with carved scrolling acanthus with carved harebell to the centre and floral decoration to either corner with graduating and moulded uprights to the sides.

The central back splat being pierced with finely carved anthemion decoration to the centre with foliate and floral carved decoration.

The scrolling arms have carved foliate decoration to the front and back leading down to the drop in seats, these being upholstered in a duck egg blue and neutral tone fabric in good condition – this fabric can easily be changed if necessary once purchased.

This leads down to the front rail having a gadroon carved moulding, the chairs are supported on carved cabriole legs to the front having carved scrolling acanthus to the top terminating with carved ball and claw foot with outswept legs to the back.

Thomas Willson, 68, Queen Street, London was a cabinet maker, upholsterer and a furniture dealer, the company was established in 1818 and was carried on by his wife and later his son into the late 19th century.

This pair of chairs are in very good condition for age, are of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
