A superb example of an early 19th century (circa 1830) yew wood Prior low hoop back Windsor armchair of excellent patina (colour) probably from the Thames Valley area - ADDITIONAL IMAGES CAN BE VIEWED BELOW:

This armchair, being all yew wood with a solid elm seat, consists of a hoop back with scribed edge with three narrow fretted splats with central roundels with alternate spindles leading down to the shaped arms and arm supports.

The well figured solid elm seat supported by turned legs and joined by a crinoline stretcher.

The family firm 'Prior & Son' were well known in the Thames Valley area in the 19th century for the manufacture of Windsor chairs and produced various designs including this one.

This chair is in very good original condition, with evidence of some old repairs to the seat, it is of stable construction and can go straight into a home.
