This secretaire bookcase consists of a swan neck pediment with carved rosettes to the centre with inlaid scallop shell and floral and foliate cornucopia below, leading down to a dentil moulding, the pediment being a later addition, possibly in the Edwardian period.

This leads down to two thirteen pane astragal glazed doors with inlaid husk decoration to the top and bottom with original key, the doors opening to reveal three adjustable shelves.

The lower section consisting of mahogany crossbanding and boxwood stringing to the top, leading down to a secretaire drawer, this being finely inlaid with foliate decoration and applied mahogany mouldings with two oval brass handles and original key.

The drawer opening to reveal a tooled leather writing surface and an arrangement of drawers with brass knob handles, pigeon holes and a cupboard to the centre.

This leading down to a cupboard below, the two doors having finely inlaid urns to the centre with floral and foliate decoration and applied mahogany mouldings with original key.

The doors opening to reveal three original removable sliding trays, the outer side panels consisting of mahogany crossbanding and boxwood stringing, the piece all supported on four bracket feet.
