This Blue John vase of baluster form having a flared rim to the top with gilt metal decoration to the top and base, the purple and yellow tones of the stone producing a wonderfully decorative item. 

Blue John or ‘Derbyshire Spar’ is a semi-precious gemstone considered to be one of the rarest minerals in the world and has tones of purple and yellow.

The name ‘Blue John’ believed to come from the French term ‘bleu-jaune’ meaning ‘blue-yellow’.

This vase is in very good condition for age and can go straight into a home or collection.
